The luxury of a distraction-free workspace, the ability to complete ideas without interruption, the freedom to get lost in thought, and the potential to surprise yourself. Residency time can fuel your creative work in a way that is hard to come by in fast-paced city life. Calls for artists-in-residence at LEÑA take place four times per year. All disciplines of artists are welcome, once you have seen the photos and descriptions of the spaces on our other pages, please send an email if you have specific needs.
While at LEÑA your work will be self-directed with no expectation to produce or put your work on display (though an informal showing/sharing/performance can be coordinated if you want it). You will share the house with the other artists staying at the same time as you. See our About page for more details on the spaces.
Your residency fee covers your accommodation, pick-up/drop-off from the Galiano ferry terminal if required (for Sunday arrivals and Saturday departures), and access to the workspaces on the property. Food is self-managed with shared use of the house kitchen. Payment is on a sliding scale and is due and non-refundable to accept and secure your residency spot. A single occupancy room rate is $250-$400 and a double occupancy room is $350-500 for the week (Sunday - Saturday, plus applicable taxes). Note, if your stay is grant-dependent, apply here after you have your grant results and reach out if a grant letter is useful for your application.

Once you submit and applications are reviewed, you will receive an email reply to confirm available dates and have an opportunity to ask questions before proceeding to a confirmed booking.
Please note that due to shared spaces with other artists, animals are not allowed.

Cancellations & Refunds
Your residency is confirmed with your non-refundable payment at the time of acceptance. If you need to cancel or change your dates the fee will not be refunded. If you need to cancel more than 30 days before your confirmed residency week, you will be able to transfer your payment to a future stay, pending availability and rescheduling a maximum of one time. If you need to cancel less than 30 days before your confirmed residency week, your fee cannot be refunded.
